It’s been a while

2020 has been very different to how we all imagined it would be. Everyones plans and ambitions have been scuppered. Whilst I didn’t plan on racing in 2020, I did have big plans to get the car out on track and get testing to try and hit the road running in 2021.

However, as with the promise of a virus vacine, there is also light at the end of the tunnel as far as me getting back to something that I absolutely love and miss.

And, last weekend, I took my first step with a test day at a very cold and very wet Donington Park National. However, the main objective of the day was to be comfortable in the car and see how my neck and shoulders would stand up to some abuse after over a year without any driving and over two years since the Championship Finale in 2018.

Well, objective complete. A lot better than it was on my only other outing in the car around Snetterton. I never really got to see how my neck would get on though as the low traction tough the whole day didn’t really lead to any stress.

The 2021 Seven Championship UK is shaping up to be just a little more special than I previously though.

1. We go abroad twice through the season. Once to the fantastic Zandvoort circuit and we have a season finalle at the ledgendary Spa Francorchamps. Cadwell Park, Anglesey GP, Silverstone GP, Brands Indy and Donington Park GP make up the remainder of the rounds and a season to remember.

2. The Championship is going slicks and wets in 2021. This was an announcement that I’m not sure anyone was expecting. However, it takes it to the next level. Due to the extra stresses and strains, we’ll also be running 3 races of 20 minutes each and every round. This is a whole lot of new tricks I’ve got to teach my old dog brain, but there’s something to be said for everyone starting out fresh with new challenges.

I can’t wait to get going and share the experiences along the way.

    1. Hi Bob,

Yep. It’s going to be quite some year! I’ve cancelled Zolder and have rebooked at Zandvoort! (Well, I’ve updated the text at least – good spot!)
